You probably have already heard that yoga increases flexibility and reduces stress, but the practice can do more than help you twist your body into pretzel shapes and find inner peace. These benefits will give you even more reasons to dust off your yoga mat and work on your namaste!

  1. Reduces stress. Connecting deep, relaxing breaths with movement and physical challenges counterbalances the body’s reaction to pain and positively affects the parts of our brain responsible for stress and anxiety.
  2. Increases range of motion, flexibility and balance. Yoga promotes long, lean movements that focus on elongating muscles and tissues that bind muscles together – leading to improved flexibility!
  3. Fights food cravings. Yoga has been associated with strengthening the mind-body connection. This awareness can help you tune into emotions involved with certain cravings, and yoga breathing exercises can help you slow down and make better choices when cravings strike.
  4. Balances your emotions. Feeling moody? The high energy you’re left with post-yoga class will leave you with a detoxed feeling. Practicing regularly will help your moods become more stable – it’s the reason many people refer to yoga as their “happy place.”

Establishing a consistent routine is the best way to experience the difference yoga can really make in your overall well-being. It’s an amazing way to get in tune with your body and inner self!

My wife loves to do yoga, and will do it almost everyday of the week. I had no idea that doing yoga could fight your food cravings. Sometimes food cravings are hard to fight, but now I will just join my wife in yoga. Thanks for the tips.
