Here we are, approaching another holiday— the holiday with the most cookouts, and one of the biggest drinking days of year. Yes, that’s right, it’s the Fourth of July!
Those of you who eat healthy might be stressing about how to handle these cookouts, as well as what you can do to stay healthy and not drink away your calories. Here are a few tips and recipes to help you stay on track and enjoying the holiday!
- Eat before you go: Make sure you have several well-balanced meals before your cookout. This way, when you arrive you are full and won’t be picking on any of the snacks and appetizers laid out.
- Drink lots of water: Drinking lots of water helps keep you full, but will also keep you hydrated during the heat of the summer sun. If you do partake in drinking activities be sure to have a glass of water for every alcholic beverage you consume. We here at Body Ambition recommend Polar Selter’s summer flavors.

3. Bring a healthy appetizer, side dish, or dessert: When you do get hungry and there aren’t many choices, you at least know how these were prepared; you will know they were made with healthy ingredients.
Enjoy these holidays with friends and family, and remember, it is about balance and doing what makes you happy. Don’t over-do it at these cookouts, and be sure to always prepare yourself to maintain your healthy lifestyle.
