New Year’s resolutions: everyone has them, but not everybody keeps them. We all have the same intentions with the goals that we set for ourselves when the New Year comes: accomplish them! But sometimes we can get caught up in setting complex and maybe even unrealistic resolutions.

 

Remember to keep it uncomplicated and straightforward. Here are some simple steps to keep those resolutions and stay motivated (not just for the first two weeks of January) but for the whole year!

  1. Set Monthly Goals

The problem with setting an all-or-nothing yearly goal, is it can often times lead to let downs and a loss of motivation if you don’t reach it. Setting short-term goals sets you up for success and has you more likely to achieve what you’ve set out to do. You can absolutely set up an ultimate long-term goal, but remember to focus on some monthly efforts too to keep you motivated along the way!

 

  1. Write Your Goals Down

Instagram, a blog, the notepad in your iPhone, a REAL notepad with an actual pen (crazy concept, I know) – wherever you choose, write your goals down and keep them in a place you can view them regularly. By sharing your goals with others and simply making your resolutions known, you’re not only held accountable – but it gives you the opportunity to receive motivation from others as well.

 

  1. Treat Yo’self

As you start to achieve those monthly goals you’ve set for yourself, remember to reward yourself too! If you’re on a weight-loss journey then, no, that might not mean an ice cream sundae. We’re talking positive reinforcements! Such as: some new leggings to wear to the gym, a night out with your hubby for your favorite dinner, or treating yourself to a massage. You’ll have something to look forward to and work toward each time you crush that goal!
